Advantages of disc springs
Disc springs are conical in shape,
it has been invented for more than one hundred years and got a wildly
application during the last few decades because of many advantages, such as:
-
High load
capacity with small deflection
-
Long fatigue life
-
Space savings
-
Largely
Self-damping, giving good shock absorption and energy dissipation
-
Singly or in stacks to
meet various requirements
-
Various characteristics
due to different thickness and height
-
Low Maintenance
cost & Greater Security
So, we can find disc spring in many
industries: auto,
heavy machinery, elevator, valve, wind turbine, off highway, chemical
plant, steel plant, electric switch ......
Typical
applications
We provide disc springs as per
DIN2093, there are 3 groups in the range,
group 1 thickness less than 1.25mm
group 2 thickness from 1.25mm to 6mm
group 3 thickness larger than 6mm
When the thickness is larger than 6mm, we can select a disc spring with
a seating.
We are capable to manufacture the standard size
range in outside diameters from 10mm to 400mm, thickness from 0.4mm to 16mm, and
there are many coatings are available such as Phosphating,
Dacromet, Delta, Geomet, etc.

Coating
For the coating, Phosphating is the
standard process generally applied to all low alloy steels.
¡¡
Special finishes readily available include
mechanical zinc plating,
Dacromet, Delta,
Geomet. the latter
two can resist mort than one thousand hours salt spray test.

Test characteristic of springs
For
the normal range of disc springs, In the usual working range ¨C the actual
measured curve very closely coincides with the theoretical.
when the deflection s>0.75ho the
force increases sharply, due to the smaller lever arms, so the
measured curve deviates from the calculated curve. so force/deflection
predictability is limited to 75% of total deflection (ho).

Spring characteristic curve with respect to
h0/t and s/h0
¡¡
In many cases we want the spring load increases
progressively as the deflection increases, But the load/ deflection curve of
most disc springs are nonlinear. The curve becomes increasingly curved as the
ratio ho/t increases.
Up to a ratio of 1.5, disc springs may
safely be taken to the flat position. Above 1.5 the disc spring is capable of
push-through, over 2 the spring may invert when the deflection is close to
ho.

Disc springs can be
statically loaded either continuously or intermittently, or dynamically
subjected to continuous load cycling. They can be combined in different
ways, the various combinations can get almost any characteristic
to meet the requirements.

Selecting Disc Spring Guidelines
-
With
temperatures increasing, disc springs begin to lose their spring
characteristics. When the service temperature exceeds 200˚C, special
materials should be used. If the service environment is severe,
corrosion resistance material should be considered, such as SS301,SS304,SS631 or
SS316.
-
Select larger outside diameter can reduce deflection
to get the same force and thus enhances fatigue life.
-
Usually we select a disc spring load at 0.75ho can
offer the maximum force required. the service deflection from 20% to
70% of total disc spring deflection can get higher fatigue life.
-
Shorter disc springs stack and parallel can reduce the
effect of friction, Lubrication is efficient also.
Arbort disc springs have the
advantage of good quality, better price and service in the market, especially in
the stainless steel and
super alloy disc springs rang. In addition to the standard materials and
sizes mentioned above, we are looking forward to manufacture disc spring as per
your drawing or develop special disc springs to meet your requirements of the
application. So if you have the application of disc springs, why not send a
inquiry to find some opportunities to improve your product's market advantage?
